OTTAWA — Police say DNA left at two different crime scenes has led to an arrest in a robbery and a break-and-enter years after they were committed.

Police said the same man broke into a Centretown home on Bank Street between Arlington Avenue and Catherine Street some time between Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 of 2006.

The perpetrator in that case stole cash, a wallet and electronics before he fled the scene.

A suspect was ordered to provide a DNA sample after he was convicted for a break-and-enter in 2013.

That DNA was sent to the centre, was put into a database and, police allege, it matched with DNA found by the Ottawa police identification unit at the robbery and break-and-enter scenes.
