Gearbox oil seal sounds favorite to me. These could be quite common on the older Nissans.

Hi, A few weeks back upon getting out of the car I could smell that quite obvious gear oil smell. Upon looking below the car there was evidence of a gear oil drop or two from the nearside engine under belly cover.

I have noticed that the leak has wosened over the past few days. I have not fully investigated yet but I am suspecting perhaps the drive shaft oil seals may be found to be at fault.

Anyone had such an oil leak from their gearbox?
