Hello all
After looking for ages at all the 4x4 options available to pull a two horse trailer. Finally took the plunge and getting a Silver Pathfinder 190 Tekna auto on Friday. Have some doubts about reliability etc and the reviews of all major car mags. But at least it's fully warrantied. ![]() Anything I should be aware off before signing up for the thing? |

I have just bought an 2006 Aventura. They only thing wrong
with it and a few other is the air con pipes that run from front to rear corrode easily. They run through the chassis so in the winter they sit in salty water. Get yours checked as when they do leak the leave a dye on the chassis. Heard rumours that to get them replaced can cost up to £1500. Mines leaking, but I have a few mates in the trade who can sort them out hopefully... |

I've had 2 Pathfinders from nearly new. The aircon pipe problem seems the recurring fault. See my post - my dealer fixed mine at a total cost of well under £1k and Nissan/Dealer paid 75% (3 1/2 year old vehicle). Even so I think the vehicle is really good value when you compare with other options. Some of the US websites talk of horror stories with the automatic box's cooling system....have a look. Mine is manual so all I have to worry about is the clutch!

The American model has the same gearbox as the Navara...
Which had reliability faults... The Pathfinder has a different box, from what i heard was a updated Patrol box... |

Thanks all for the replies.
Had asked the salesman about the issues with the aircon pipes. But assured me Nissan were aware of the issue and had addressed it for the 2010 onwards model...I have my doubts!!!!! As I have a habit of not believing everything a salesman says. :-)) So far so good on the ownership experience. I Cannot believe I am getting 33mpg on the combined cycle...and just had detatchable towbar fitted last week and looking forward to trying it out. The thing feels like a tank and is happy sitting at 80+ on the motorway ( Where allowed obviously) and more than happy on the initimidation stakes to ease progress along the motorway. As it quite easily fills the rear view mirror of lane hoggers. extremely comy ride and night and day to a Shogun boat like handling IMHO. |

When I had my pipes replaced a couple of months back I
asked if they would only last another 3 years - the service manager said they were a different part number than the originals so he believed they had done something to fix the fault. Not sure if I'll still be with Nissan by then. The new Santa Fe looks too tempting.... |

Hi, When you say they have addressed it for the 2010 models, did he go into any thing spacific ? I have the 2010 tekna, which i have found to be great overall the only bummer I have is when I read that some are getting 30+ mpg I only just get 25.1 mpg Im only at 14500 miles so long way to go till engine frees up so more |

Sorry to say no specifics on what they had done. I filled it up last week ( £95) and that got me 400 miles before the light came on....62mph on Cruise control on Motorway gives me 33-35mpg ( 25mile journey). Just towed a 1 ton Horse trailer 55 miles at 50mph (all motorway) and got 26mpg. The car has covered 1400miles from new. Is yours the 190BHP model? |

Ive just towed our caravan 200 miles... averaged 27.5 mpg.
Thats more than i used to get out of my BMW.... I've heard it can take over 60,000 miles for the engine to loosen up.... If mine does more mpg than my old BMW then i'm way happy.... |

Hi, we bought a ex demo tekna last week and we love it, we traded a KIA Sedona and my lovely Lexus rx300, it's done 1400 miles and we r getting about 25mpg local short 1/2 mile trips running around but we don't care, it was the best compromise for the 2 cars and even the mrs loves driving it, take the plunge |
