My pathfinder is singing!

Sorry I didnt get back to you sooner, I haven't checked in for ages, lots going on at home etc.

My pathfinder is an Aventura too but on a 56 plate and it is still going well, I call it "Patsy", is it a ladies thing to name their cars?!

Recently she has been back to the garage as the wing mirrors stopped dropping when you reversed it and they have replaced the motor - thankfully under warranty as the part was £255 plus any paint costs (I'm not sure if you know but most parts for Pathfinders come unpainted and have to be painted to match) and fitting.  Hope it doesn't go again anytime soon!

I was speaking to another pathfinder owner the other day and he told me about a problem he has had with his (he's had 2) both went rusty around the chrome plate where the boot handle is, apparently the plate chafes the paint away and then you get rust but it's usually fixed under warranty.

We are quite pleased with our mpg at the moment as when we are doing reasonable length runs we are getting between 33 and 41 mpg!  Really good for a pathfinder, on the downside the really short journeys/around town stuff is hopeless at about 21.4 mpg on average! 

Somebody on here said to keep her under 2000 revs where possible which I try to most of the time and I keep checking my tyres for pressure - about 38 psi usually.

Just a quick update for anyone who is interested......

As I was loading it onto the truck to go back to the garage the finance company rang (thank heavens I put some on finance!) as I had complained to them that it was yet again off the road.  They have forced the garage into giving me a refund - I am still out of pocket because of insurance changes and the finance company wont refund their payments as I have had use of the pathfinder but recovered the majority of the money.

I have now bought another pathfinder and it is running just great, just as I hoped, only thing I would change is fuel consumption but as it ticks every other box I am happy to accept that.  I just try to make sure that tires are at correct pressure, keep it below 2000 revs etc.

Hi, I'm new so please don't get upset if this subject has already come up....

I bought an 05 SVE Pathfinder in March - TBH it has been a bit of a nightmare, the last owner did not look after it although why I'm not sure as I love it, just hope it is fixed this time....

The headgasket/cylinder head went after only 6 weeks, the garage has had it fixed, not through a dealership but through a nissan specialist... Basically seems to be running ok now as I have done a couple of hundred miles in the last couple of days as we go away soon and I don't want another aborted caravan holiday but the car is making a humming/wheezing/whistling sound as you set off and go up through the gears (manual transmission) and only stops when you get up to 45mph ish.

I can't face it going back in the garage just now and will put up with it as long as I am not doing damage - any ideas anyone?
