hi, quick question i dont know if any1 knows but my sister has her driving test booked soon and she has a car my old one but the insurance on it is sky high and its only a little pug 306 1.4, however if my mother is the policy holder and my sister the named driver the price comes down by £1000, but they don't live at the same address is this a problem? can my mum be the policy holder and my sister still use the car from her address 15miles away? ive told money supermarket on the quote that my sister is the owner and main user and just my my mums details as policy information, is this legal and above board? any information would be really helpful.
thanks |

not a wise move tbh, as you may know insurance is based on the post code you sister will have to be the main driver and your mum a named driver insurance companies are wise to this practice if you have a crash and thay find out thay will not pay out this year 95% of polices have gone up 40% anyway, average price for a new driver 17 -25 is around £1800 - 4000 As a new driver she will only have 6 points too - no insurance is 6 points £200 fine and the car impounded thats another £120 + £20 a day upto 14 days after that its scraped or sold 6 points in the first 2 years is a instant retest - back to square 1 |
