Hi just need to ask if anyone with a terrano has ever experienced this
problem and what it might be. When the car is being driven there is sometimes a donking noise coming from the front of the car and usually in a car park is more noticeable when trying to steer into a space. I can't see anything physical hanging but maybe I'm looking in the wrong area. Is there anyone that could point us in the right direction please ? I would be very a thankful ![]() ![]() |

Try greasing the steering idler, could be sticking.

You could be applying too much steering lock. And its Knocking on the steering stops,a little grease on them will help.(4 on each side)If its doing it whilst you are reversing, then most likely its the cv joints.

Check the wear on the front tyres...if you have signs of scrubbing on the inner or outer sides of the tread then jack the front up and check for movment in the ball joints, outer track rod ends and inner track rod ends.
If it's a CV joint then it will only make a clicking sound on full lock either way...If its a ball joint then its more of a knock when at low speed over bumps or when truning as it flexes the joints. hope this helps. |
