Since having a new clutch fitted a year ago the car feels a lot better but it still judders a bit first thing on a morning but not every morning.
The strange thing is I was down at my local Andrew Page Depot the other day and when I mentioned the vehicle was a Nissan Note the salesman instantly asked me if I had had any clutch problems to which I replied yes. He then told me there was talk,in the trade, of a serious problem with the clutch in this model and that a re-call was in the pipeline although he didn't know if it was to replace the clutch or to fit a modification. Later in the day I contacted a main Nissan dealer and Andrew Page Ltd head office but they both had no knowledge of this. VERY STRANGE ! Can anyone else shed any light on this ? |

As i have said before it isnt only nissan its all down to the compound of the clutch and brake pads the late astra and corsa's from 2003 on also suffer from clutch judder esp when cold to the point there replace the clutch in any car under 6-10k miles aftermarket cluches seem to cure the problem nissian technical data is hard to get hold of re. common faults and doesnt seem to be shared between dealerships at least nissian dont use dual mass flywheels unlike ford and vw turns a basic clutch change into a £1500 - £2k job

I think Matthew's comment about condensation is correct. I had a similar problem with an Austin Maxi (Don't laugh; they're still good cars except for some of the assembly work) and it was cured by dismantling & drying out the clutch. |

Another thought. During recent wet weather, quick getaways have given apparent clutch judder which I think was almost certainly alternating wheel-spin/grip. I don't know much about ABS but does it work without the brakes being used?

No, the clue is in the title, Anti lock braking. Wheelspin comes under TC traction control. regards dave s |

Thanks, Dave. That must be what I had in mind. I'm still a few decades behind. Anyway, does the Note have that sort of control that might cause alternating slip/grip during a quick getaway on a wet road?

Yes, your right foot, mine's an auto so it sort of takes care of itself and I'm old enough to have been driving well before any type of traction control came into being, therefore I always pay attention to road surface conditions (also comes from many years of racing) and try to drive accordingly though a bit of slip is nothing to worry about as long as you react to it. I don't know if other models have T/C, Flash22 may do though. regards dave s |
