My Flywheel broke ok car is 6.5 years old and has done 80000 miles but has full service history and well looked after. So the question is should a fly wheel break? You expect clutches and other things to need replacing but not a fly wheel so I complained to Nissan.

Their response is listed below by their own MD email they dont expect a car to last beyond 6.5 years and 80000 miles. Be aware if purchasing secong hand nissan the bills can start to get high, this part is well over £400 and with labour on top I will not get any change from just over a £1000. Makes this as a used car of supposedly good Japanese quality an expensive purchase and car to have. Beware the garage I purchase the new flywheel and clutch (since car already apart) say his eats them too every 30000 miles or so goes through either a clutch or flywheel or both.

Dear Mr Cooke,

The fact that your car may have been imported is not important in this case. The key point is that your car is significantly outside of the Nissan warranty for both age and mileage.

I support the decision taken by the Nissan Customer service team.

I realize that this is a disappointment to you but a car which is over six and half years old and covered more than 80,000 miles is not covered by Nissan policies.

Dear Sirs

I spoke to one your service staff yesterday as requested by your reply to my original email who said you were unable to help me as the car was an import, I have to say first of all this shouldn't matter I am in the Uk and the Nissan is in the Uk either way it is a Nissan problem.

Secondly I disagree with this as it sounds like a palm off to me and my reason for this is because, my V5 has date first registered 10 October 2004, date first registered in the UK 10 October 2010 the car reg is WK54*** which is 2004 if the date first registered and the date first registered in the UK are the same then the car has to be a UK car. Their is nothing on my V5 to say is an import the car when bought wasn't listed as an import when I HPI the car before purchase still not listed as import.

The Vin/chassis of mine is JN1TENT30U0*********

It may of been an import by a uk dealer, clutch and flywheel are classed as conusumable item IMHO its down to you as it well out of warrenty, its just on of those things, fix it move on

5-6 years ago i had a p reg corsa 31k on the clock, had to do no end of work to that but i was getting trade prices at the time what helped

2 years ago i got rid of a 6 month old corsa as it rattled to much and vx wouldnt do a thing about it 3-4 months later it had new cams and lifters, i had right hassle over that email and letters, in the end i got rid of it as it wasnt worth the stress

I am having fixed and I am moving on, but thought others should be aware of the fault with the XT more people are now saying it chews clutches and Flywheels and their was nothing on this when did my reserach on what 4x4 to buy for my needs. If knew the bills for repair were going to be like this I may as well have bought a Landrover!
