I read on another forum that anything up 12,000 miles a year, you're better off with a petrol, anything above 12,000 and it's diesel all the way.

Diesel can suffer from a hunting issue which is normally the scv on the fuel pump which i have just done on my 2004 2.2 se also turbos can fail as well. Mine averages 50mpg all day everyday regardless of the way it's driven.

Another issue they can suffer from is on all models petrol or diesel and that is the drain tubes on the sunroof can come off allowing water to end up in the front footwells.
Easy enough to fix just time consuming.
Cheers

I must admit the diesels run really well but they do have issues. Saying that so do most cars these days. I still think I'd pick the diesel over the petrol.

Just to add a bit more to this, the turbo is a big problem on these and replacing it is expensive. However "turbo technics" have developed a hybrid replacement about which i've heard very good reviews from P12 owners who have gone this route.

I'm not too sure what the price difference is but i bet it's way cheaper than Nissan,  dearer than just getting a "recon unit" from a standard turbo place but last a lot longer

Don't ask me, i just work here!
