Hi all. I sheered the splines of both 5th gear, overdrive gear, as well as those on the main shaft while doing an overland trip across Africa. I believe this happens on the 3.0 Patrols from 2000 to 2002. Nissan apparently have now made the splines longer on the main shaft as well as increasing the width of the 5th gear. My problem is Nissan UK dont seem to know about it and so dont have a part number for the kit. It includes a slightly smaller spacer between 5th gear and the bearing to accommodate the wider gear. Has anyone ever had the same problem, or know whom I can contact about it. I got as far as South Africa where I have left the truck and am back here in the UK to get the above and many other bits that never made the trip.
Many thanks
Regards
Barry

Hi Barry. To be honest Nissan manual boxes are not the best. Have you tried contacting any transmission specialists rather than a Nissan dealer.

Would be worth a try at least or maybe getting in touch with the customer services of the Nissan country that do have the upgrade parts.

When my cousin had a Range Rover and was based in Saudi, he was making a good trade taking gearbox parts over there that could only be sourced in the UK, again they were common faults but Saudi dealerships just couldn't get the parts and import prices were so high, my cousin used to take them over in his "diplomatic bag", put it this way, he NEVER had to pay for anything that needed doing on his Range

Don't ask me, i just work here!
