Note SVE (2206) with climate control: When heater set to AUTO it is impossible to get reasonable temperature in car. Even when set at lowest temperature (17°) it becomes unbearably hot .

You have to juggle between Lo and 17° to maintain a reasonable temp

The handbook identifies a temperature sensor on the dashboard. Could this be faulty and if so, how easy is it to replace?

Hi, the sensor is located in the lower centre console (the one with the climate controls on it) this clips off and the sensor is held in with one screw. It could be the blower doors for mixing cold air with hot air aren't working, and check the interior/exterior air recirculating position. does the fan switch off when the set temperature is reached or does it keep on blowing?

Hi - was worried for a while that my first ever post was going to get a resounding 0 replies !!

Will check the sensor asap. Are the blower doors located in a similar position?

Interior/exterior air reciculating does not seem to have a major effect - in both positions the temp just keeps rising.

The fan does not switch off when it reaches the temperature - it just keeps blowing hot air but there seems to be some control by the AUTO function as it eases off the fan from full power down to position 2 or 3.

I have a feeling that it is the sensor because the same happens whatever temp setting is set (except Hi where it just blasts out anyway).

Hi Blower doors are located well inside console, i think the motor unit is in the passenger footwell on the side of the centre console module. However you can try this reset procedure for the system

turn ignition ON and press the temp control OFF button for at least 5 sec's as soon as the ignition is ON. the Led's and screen for the climate control are checked. press temp control UP switch, input signals from each sensor are checked. press temp control UP switch, air mix and mode motor position are checked and starting position are reset. press temp UP switch, actuators are checked. press temp control UP switch, temeratures detected by each sensor are checked.

to exit this mode press AUTO switch ON or switch off ignition.

this may reset any errors that have put the air mix doors out of position etc and is easy to try, after that it may need to be connected to consult 2 at a dealer.

what happens if you put it into manual mode and ask it to maintain a low temp, is there plenty of cold air from the aircon?

Dave

That is really helpful - many thanks. Will try the reset
tomorrow in the daylight.

In Manual mode the air con is working fine on Lo setting
but the moment you go to next setting up (17°) it is
overwhelmed by heat.

Presumably consult 2 is a re-programmer and therefore a
dealer chargeable activity?

I'll let you know how I get on

Thanks again

Dave

A definite improvement after the reset but temp still rises to 22° when set on 17° but there is more AUTO action with mode and fan settings than before.

Are the codes shown at each stage of the reset procedure indicative at all? In order of pressing temp control Up switch they are:

- initially on cold start toggling between 21 and 25 with the last digit of each number flashing. When warmed up steady on 21 with the 1 flashing

- 30

- 41 (fan also comes on at this stage)

- 5

Do you think it is worth trying a consult 2 re-programming now?

Hi Cheryl, sorry for the late reply(winter bug) forgot to mention that the engine needs to be running for the last two checks (at working temperature) so maybe another reset will finish it off! If you pm me your e-mail address I can send you a more comprehensive diagnostic check list to use, it's not possible to write it on here.
