Morning, The only thing that stops a Diesel from starting in the morning is the Glow Plugs, they may look fine but they may not be getting up to full temp to heat the combustion chamber.
I have just had to change them on a friends van that had the same problem.
The white smoke is from unburnt diesel.
I would change the Glow plugs and that should put an end to your starting problem.

05,2.5 morning cold start problem,white smoke when starts,took of glow plugs,connected to the battery one by one all turning red fine,suspect no power to glow plugs,went to nissan they suggested change all 4 glow plug,if not help then they will look for something else. I didn't take the advice,i think glow plug ok and now still haw the problem
