Your MPG depends on the air cond. You get more MPG when your Air cond is off. Also tire pressure should be maintained to the recommendation and slow acceleration will give you better mpg.

35-28mpg around here. dont forget autos and a revvy 1.6 is not a good combination for fuel consumption.
my bill has been £48-£50 for 300 miles. thats not too bad when you consider i only drive it in town. i find the AC doesnt really affect the mpg (strange i know), i still get the same mpg week in week out since Feb. in comparison, it's as frugal as my VW passat 2.0 TDI i had before the note. |

Note 2006 SVE petrol 1.6
I am driving just average, not hard, but not carefull either, and get 38- 40 plus MPG I noticed the note is better for fuel consumption around town than on a long run on by pass etc my last car was a Peugeot vivant 1.6 petrol and that was the exact opposite, brilliant on long runs but not too good around town. overall quite happy on the fuel consumption S'pose it could be better but if i had a 1.4 would not be that different, as what I have heard. and the 1.6 is quite good for turn of speed and lively, yes they say its a bit thrashy taking off on 1st gear I agree but once you get going its very refined and quiet. I had a 1988 Peugeot 205 4 door SR model (quite rare model) 1.4 petrol and that went like a rocket and drank fuel like crazy but FUN, a 16yr old car at the time but it used NO OIL at all. I am so sure that all cars can be economically built but the Car companies and oil companies will not let that happen will they? just like the ever threat of electric cars being mass produced and available to the normal person in the street on a budget.....no it will not happen...how naive we all are about that, since I was a small boy I have heard about electric cars are coming...has not happened yet...also plug in your electric car to charge it? see the cost of the charge go up and up and up..... just like in your home!....hmmm! no one has thought of that yet!

I've a 2011 1.6 Petrol Auto Tekna.
Round town circa 30 mpg but on a decent run around 48 /50 mpg. Can't complain. |

thats very good mpg maybe the auto version is more efficient but strange as you get more on a long run but I have found the opposite! but overall not too bad, its a good car....just been out today and its reading mpg is 40.9 and its been stuck on that for a week or more mostly short trips tesco run school run etc Edited by PhilT |

PhilT, try resetting the trip comp before running around town. The mpg display is only the average of all the miles done since last reset, not your current consumption live data. My 1.6 auto does around 34mpg urban (short trips 3.5miles lots of stop starts) and 46 mpg on the motorway cruising at around mid 70's. regards dave s |

my mpg is about the same as yours Dave but again i reset the trip everytime i fill up or an unusual journey just to see how is doing. a friend of mine never tripped his switch for 12500 and wondered how i could tell between urban driving and long journeys silly man |

Ok thanks for that tip I'll try that but it does fluctuate around that mark but just without that you can tell that on long runs it drinks more but the shorter trips it seems to last longer ie the needle goes down slower!

Phil, you either have a very unusual driving style or a very unusual engine ecu. I have yet to see a tank contents gauge be accurate enough to judge mpg, on my last car the gauge needle would drop like a stone from full to half then drop slowly to empty, i think the analogue sender units are much less sensitive at the full half of the dial than the lower half, this is probably due to the style of sensor used i.e. a resistor wire wound component. try Stebb's system for better accuracy. regards
