“If Microsoft doesn’t have a good Windows 8 (product), it will be a big loss for Microsoft and then Taiwan,” Acer Group founder Stan Shih said in an interview with Forbes in Shanghaion Monday. Since the rise of Taiwan’s computer industry in the 1980s and 1990s, manufacturers there have relied heavily on microprocessors made by Intel and operating system software from Microsoft to power their own growth. Perhaps alluding to the price that Microsoft wants to charge for Windows 8 – another source of worry in the industry, Shih also noted, “You have to create value.”
